Barbara Jean Morton (BJ)

11/23/2022

Barbara Jean Morton (BJ) passed away in Florida, with her husband at her side, on November 23, 2022 at only 61 years of age due to complications from blood clots and a heart attack. Barbara was born on February 17, 1961 in Bismarck, ND to Dana Hall Larsen and James Robert Larsen, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Dickinson High School class of 1979 and also graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Barbara excelled in all the jobs she pursued. She appeared in television commercials in Wyoming, sold insurance for TCF in Minneapolis, managed the golf course lounge at Ruttgers Bay Lake Resort, Deerwood, MN, managed an apartment building and an office building in Eden Prairie, MN and in Florida she was an Employee of the Month at Walmart.

Barbara was a gifted artist and maker of stained glass creations. She was an avid reader of books and her library was filled with her favorite Historical Romance novels and English royalty history. Her love and compassion for animals was always uppermost on her mind. She loved and cared for dogs, cats and Arabian horses. Barbara, affectionately known as BJ, always had a bright, cheerful smile and lit up the room when she entered. She was very sociable, had many friends and could make anyone feel at ease because she was a listener too.

She loved spending time at her beautiful lakefront home on Spirit Lake in Aitkin, Minnesota. But when the winters got too cold for her, she suggested the family move south. With husband Craig, animals and all their stuff they moved to Titusville, FL in 2001 and then settled on five acres in Mims, Florida where they have lived since 2008. Fresh orange juice in the morning, the sweet aroma of gardenias, surrounded by palm trees and beautiful Bird of Paradise flowers, swimming and shelling at Cocoa Beach and watching the Shuttle and Space X rocket launches brought great happiness, fulfillment and peace to Barbara.

Barbara is survived by her best friend and husband of 30 years Craig, her son Thomas P. Caspers, (Kelly Rolfe) and granddaughter Carmin, Excelsior, MN, sister Kimberly (Jerry) Schwartz, niece Molly, Dickinson, ND, and nephew Daniel of Bismarck, ND, brother James Larsen, Meridian, Idaho, sisters-in-law Patricia L. (Daniel) Costigan of Bloomington, MN, Liz Morton of Umatilla, FL, brother-in-law Dan Morton of Cotopaxi, CO, stepdaughter Kelly (Jim) Yolch, Rochester, MN and step-son Bradley (Theresa) Morton, Eden Prairie, MN. Barbara will also be deeply missed by her step-grandchildren, Grant, Grace and Jameson Yolch and Jack and Cole Morton. Also missed by her special high school friend Joanna Fuchs, Dickinson, ND.

A memorial service will be held on a later date at Christ Presbyterian Church, Edina, MN with a private burial at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.
